Owen's Quest Book - One really Big project

Once the sheets were cut, I pricked stacks of them then used a leadpoint to draw lines on the sheets for the calligraphy spacing.

Each gathering is made up of eight sheets.

Once I had several gatherings, I started using the layout calligraphy as a go by and started work on the final calligraphy.  I'm using a metal nib and a homemade oak gall ink.

As of this post, the first gathering has had it's calligraphy done and is ready to be turned over to the next scribe for the illumination design and painting.  The second gathering has been started. Using an average number of pages per subject on the layout calligraphy, the books looks like it might be about 160 pages or so.

Owen's Quest Book - One really Big project

I've been working on a project since the start of the year.

Owen ap Aeddan has been set to a quest of interviewing various Members of the Chivilary around the Kingdom of Ansteorra.  Myself and another scribe are taking what is written after these interviews and creating a book of it.

So far I'm still working on the writing out the text on graph paper for a layout before moving onto the paper being used to make the book. There is currently a large stack and it's getting bigger.

As I'm using a cartridge pen for the layout as it's easy to travel with, I've started work on the actual pages at home.  The Pergamenata was chosen as it looks and acts very similar to parchment and is reasonable in price. The full sheets were cut down to a bit bigger then the planned finish size.

to be continued...
